Purifying calcium-based products
OUR
APPLICATIONS
GYPSUM PURIFICATION
Upgrade low grade or waste gypsum to higher purity and whiteness.
CHALK PURIFICATION
Upgrade low grade or waste chalk to higher purity and whiteness
PHOSPHOGYPSUM
Process phoshogypsum to produce higher grade gypsum and concentrate any Rare Earth Elements (REEs) that are present in the phosphogypsum.
OTHER APPLICATIONS
Our process is proven to work on calcium-based mineral products.

THE CMP
PROCESS
-
Reagent recycled
-
Tailor the degree of purity
-
Integrated or standalone
The Calcium-based Mineral Purification (CMP) process reacts with impure calcium-based minerals with a reagent solution at a moderate temperature and pressure.
Contaminants can then be released and separated out of the reagent solution.
The product is then converted to purer, brighter chalk or gypsum and separated out of the reagent solution.
The reagent solution can be re-used.

USING THE CMP PROCESS
PURIFYING CHALK AND GYPSUM
The CMP process can be used on a wide range of chalks and gypsums to purify lower grade material to higher purity and brightness.
The output can be tailored to the market's requirements, and the process integrated into your own plant and workflow or used as a standalone plant.
PURIFYING PHOSPHOGYPSUM
The CMP process can be use by phosphoric acid producers to produce higher purity gypsum as a by-product after separating the phosphoric acid from their phosphoric rock.
The CMP process can be used standalone or integrated with the producer's own plant to maximise on efficiency and conserve energy and other resources.
With an increased yield of higher purity gypsum, feedstock waste is minimised.
It also concentrates the impurities in the final waste. This can be sold to specialist refiners to access the Rare Earth Elements (REEs).
WASTE PHOSPHOGYPSUM
Phosphogypsum waste is a multi-billion tonne waste and pollution problem.
Due to the efficiency of the CMP process, it can be used to clean the waste to produce highly saleable high purity gypsum.
As an extra benefit, if mineral-rich phosphogypsum is processed using the CMP process, the residual waste provides a concentrated source of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) which can be sold to specialist refiners.
OTHER APPLICATIONS
The CMP process works effectively with a wide range of calcium-based materials, notably:
-
Chalk: Low quality natural chalk and waste chalk (lime mud)
-
Gypsum: Phosphogypsum, flue-gas desulphurisation (FGD) gypsum, citrogypsum, fluorogypsum, titanogypsum, waste incineration gypsum, mine tailings, water treatment sludge and natural mined gypsum.
INTERESTED? CONTACT US FOR TESTING AND ANALYSIS
We provide a range of services to help potential clients evaluate their options. Send us your calcium-rich samples for testing and analysis.
We also offer in-house process R&D, client project evaluation, process design and consultancy and full assistance to the CMP process installation and commission. We welcome opportunities to discuss your requirements.
The process works
at moderate temperatures
The use of acid or
other harmful reagents
is minimised
The reagents are widely available and are recycled
for re-use
Recycling waste products reduces the need for new gypsum mines
The process is relatively quick and does not involve costly equipment
Heavy transportation avoided if local lower grade feedstock can be sourced
Extracting rare earths from concentrated residual phosphogypsum waste reduces the need for more mines
The process produces a higher yield, creating considerably less waste so requires less waste storage
ENVIRONMENTALLY
SUSTAINABLE
The CMP process is designed to help refiners and processors of calcium-rich minerals minimise the over-use of natural resources and minimise waste while increasing the value and purity of their output.
