The process works
at moderate temperatures
The reagents are widely available and are recycled
for re-use
The process is relatively quick and does not involve costly equipment
Heavy transportation can be avoided if local lower grade feedstock is sourced
The use of acid or other harmful reagents is minimised
The process produces a higher yield, creating less waste reducing and the need for waste storage
Recycling waste products reduces the need for new mines
Extracting rare earths from concentrated residual phosphogypsum waste provides new resources
